Wetlands and Coastal Action Group
The Tees Valley is noted for its coastal and wetland sites, especially around the Tees Estuary. Some of these sites are of national and international importance.
The Wetland and Coastal Action group meets at least once a quarter to work on action plans of priority wetland and coastal habitats and species. The group also provides an informal networking forum for people and organisations working on wetland and coastal conservation issues in the Tees Valley. The group has responsibility for the following action plans for species and habitats;
- Grazing marsh
- Maritime Cliffs and slopes
- Marsh and swamp
- Mud and sand flats
- Reedbeds
- Rivers and streams
- Saline lagoons
- Saltmarsh
- Sand dunes and coastal grassland
- Globeflower
- Great crested newt
- Ringed plover
