The Peoples Trust for Endangered Species

‘Focus UK Mammals’ is part of this trust. There are two main surveys:

  • The Mammals on Roads survey, a nationwide survey of mammal sightings along single carriageways has run each year since 2001. To date, over half a million kilometres of road have been surveyed, and changes in counts of species such as hedgehogs, foxes and badgers have been tracked.
  • The Living with Mammals survey takes place between April and June of each year and requires you to spend some time observing a chosen site (e.g. your garden or allotment) throughout the survey period. You can simply click on line to take part: www.ptes.org
