Community group/residents association

Your local group is likely to have a good understanding of what residents want plus have ideas on how to improve your area so that is a more attractive place for both people and wildlife. There are plenty of small pots of money available for which you can apply in order to turn your ideas into actions.

Groundwork Tees Valley is an environmental regeneration charity which has staff who may be able to guide you along the way.

Could your site be a “Breathing place”? Visit www.bbc.co.uk/breathingplaces/create/ to find out. A breathing place can be almost anywhere, from waste-land at the end of your road, part of a cemetery or park, or the grounds of a village hall or centre. The BBC Breathing Places project guides you through ideas and tips to bring wildlife to these places and can, in some cases, provide grants.
